The Old Man and the Sea

film (2021) 3'51''

Inspired by failure and human nature, The Old Man and the Sea is a Beyblade-induced poem and karaoke - but instead with no man and no sea. Through three chapters, it elaborates on a different context with its impossibilities in which to be defeated. Every Beyblade battle becomes a dead-end road where the only possibility is to keep spinning. This film development sparked a visual research on movement through painting and drawing.

This work was specially developed to be presented in the Eye Filmmuseum (Amsterdam), in the program Eye On Art: Resilient Bodies in June 2021.
